Anna wasn't a typical woman in the 20th century; She had a free spirit. She lived by herself, did all the labor around her house and would send help away if it wasn't done right. With her tall build her appearance was always brought to attenion, especially since she wore masculine clothes. She was often discribed as "odd," a "strange bird," an "eccentric hermit." These were not common traits used to decribe a woman in this time. Women were supposed to be graceful, delicate, and fall into the typical Victorian era expectation for women.
